FIRM project organizes country workshop in Copenhagen

Wednesday 09 Apr 14

The Facilitating Implementation and Readiness for Mitigation (FIRM) project is organizing a country interaction workshop in Copenhagen, Denmark on 9 – 11 April 2014.

The workshop aims to enable experience sharing among countries on various aspects of developing Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMA) and Low Carbon Development Strategies (LCDS), deepen the understanding of the participants on baseline, finance and MRV of NAMAs, and receiving participant feedback on challenges and country support needs for developing and implementing NAMAs.

The workshop is expected to be attended by 40 participants including FIRM national participants and members from partner organizations such as DANIDA, UNEP DTIE, UNEP-FI, and the Frankfurt school of Finance.

During the two day workshop, participants will make presentations and engage in group exercises and group discussions.

See the full list of the workshop sessions here.

The FIRM project, funded by the Danish International Development Agency, DANIDA, works to strengthen national capacities to formulate low carbon development strategies and identify mitigation opportunities within the context of national sustainable development priorities and the evolving concept of Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs). Implemented by UNEP's Division of Technology, Industry and Economics (DTIE) together with the UNEP Risø Centre (URC), the project provides technical and methodological advice and institutional capacity-building to national agencies and their stakeholders in the participating countries.
